At the beginning of this calendar year, I focused on prioritizing being an observer of my patterns and sequences (noting what facilitated [latitude] for me).
Consider a seed planted in the ground. It must first break through the seed coat and push its way through the soil. At times, pushing through the words in the back of your mind that say, “You shouldn’t care so much” or “You should be over it by now” may make you feel pressured.

This internal kerfuffle has brought me again to the knowing that I have the power to set aside beliefs that were never mine to begin with, retire traditions that no longer bring me closer to a sense of wonder and joy, and that I can even abandon a holiday for a decade and a half, and return to it with new meaning.

Think of a butterfly emerging from its cocoon. It takes time and effort to break free from the cocoon’s confines. But this conscious transition from confinement and into openness, is necessary for the butterfly to become who it must be.

I have been creating the space I need to experience peace and healing in my heart. Time for gentleness and reflection, living without deadlines and rigid scheduling.
- I am currently celebrating my worth (and purpose) aside from wished-for milestones, reconciliations, and words of validation (or at the very least, basic acknowledgements).
- I am becoming more and more comfortable with the “uncomfortable” (because I recognize how unjustly I have treated myself).
- I am seeing the continuum I longed to see with regard to my progress.
- Previously invisible, or perhaps more to the point, simply hidden behind unfair expectations.
The more we unfold into our healing, the more we can become whole. Commit to doing the work. Encourage yourself to show up—that is how you start.

🆕 After presenting in a certain way for going on 20 years as a writer and artist, I am grateful to have the opportunity to begin a new narrative.
- ➡️ Instead of the relentless hustle of promotion, algorithms and content creation—I am excited to be vulnerably stepping into something new.
- 💢 I know there will be miss-takes—but I also know that is how I learn.
- ✅ This intention continues to take shape; I am inspired and excited about this new focus.
There are journeys we have begun that have brought us great inner riches and refinements, but we had to travel through dark valleys of difficulty and suffering. Had we known at the beginning what the journey would demand of us, we might never have set out. Yet the rewards and gifts became vital to who we are.
