TL;DR — start simply 💗 (with compassion) — we know as we go; prioritize ⏰ time for 🤸🏻♀️ curiosity and 🖍️✂️🖌️ play, 🔎 attention and 📓✍🏽 expression)
[slow is fast enough]
Braveheart, over the past few weeks I have toiled (in all the best/worst ways) over how to proceed with Right Brain Planner®. (So-o many ideas …) 😊
- This included multiple 💗🗣️💗 [conversations with myself] via hand-lettered word-art in Procreate and in my other right brain planner(s):
Visually processing what I am feeling, followed by crafting grounding statements (guiding language for speaking truth to myself with self-compassion). 💞
By definition, good enough is good enough. If the spec isn’t what you need, change the spec. But perfect is unattainable and perfect is a place to hide.
Seth Godin
What I have landed on is to share “before/after” content as a new way to 🤩 visually explain how I utilize Right Brain Planner® templates and resources.
Frankly, this idea still feels wonky for me—but I was reminded that waiting on pure inspiration cannot be the standard for a writer:
- Octavia Butler on the pillars of the craft: “The first, of course, is to read. It’s surprising how many people think they want to be writers but they don’t really like to read books… The second is to write, every day, whether you like it or not. Screw inspiration….Just keep at it, keep learning your craft and keep trying.” [Source]
[starting points for October]
The downloads I provide for my Ko-fi patrons are the basis of my right brain planning.
The October Ko-fi download includes:
- dated art + prompts to use for a 52-week journal & mark-making
- mark-making as a meditative practice
- review/preview notes and prompts for September and October
- [processing connections] template
The lunar templates (released on or around the new moon) are in a transitional format.
Going forward, I will be continue to combine past Right Brain Planner® themes of [creating your own space] and [synchronicity] with [kaleidoscope perspectives] as we each give our time and attention to our [chapters], our stories-unfolding.
I fold the Ko-fi templates into booklets and store them in this fabric portfolio; the file folder is a new addition to my practice and currently includes the 2-minute journal grid (available as a free download here) and my new moon journal. (I also compile a weekly collage page in a composition notebook.)
Perfection is an unfair and unrealistic standard; a place that fosters self-doubt and robs us of knowing as we go, Braveheart.
Action perpetuates knowing (and progress).
Thank you kindly for your presence here.
I appreciate your interest and support.
~love & good wishes~
❤️ Braveheart, as the Creator/Artist of Right Brain Planner® I am ever-grateful to have the opportunity to share my creative work online + support other creators! 🎉 For almost 20 years I have had the privilege of sharing my art and writing about right brain planning while also hosting kindred 👭🏽💞👭 communities. ✨ I consider it an absolute delight to continue this portion of my creative work (even as I retire from full-time work).
This is possible, in part, by {you} and your presence here. But also because of the support of my Ko-fi patrons and the other member/subscriber communities I host (via their presence, input and paid subscriptions).
